Lumber Exchange Building at 5th and Hennepin

You are looking east from Hennepin Avenue South near the intersection with 5th Street, which is behind you. This is the Lumber Exchange building. The nearby St.Anthony Falls were used to power both flour and lumber mills, which may be the reason for a lumber exchange here.

On the far left, the gold-trimmed building is the downtown branch of the Minneapolis Public Library, which has since been torn down for a new library.
